Earth is one of our newest products. It is a 9/16″ engineered strand bamboo plank. One of the really great things about strand bamboo (aside from its natural durability) is how it can be manufactured to look like a hardwood. A lot of people want the sustainability and toughness of bamboo, but don’t necessarily like the look of bamboo. Two other traditional styles are either Vertical or Horizontal. In both, you get a bit of the expected bamboo ‘knuckles’ from where the bamboo shoot was segmented.Strand bamboo is made differently to the others.
Strand bamboo is made—as you’d expect—from thin strands of bamboo, mashed together into a log, and then sliced into a veneer that is laminated onto the wood flooring core. The pattern it makes is more random, a bit more like a hardwood. Add a little distressing, color, and a UV lacquer, and what you end up with is some of the most amazing flooring you will find anywhere.
Currently we offer Strand Bamboo in four different styles: Earth (the dark brown you see here), Ash (a really nice neutral grey), Carbonized (a light warm tan), and Natural (a lighter, more honey-colored tan).
