The den/study had been in need of a little attention for a while. It’s a cute little room with a wonderful view. But for whatever reason it just was never used very much, a place where things collected—old shaggy carpet and clutter—so it wasn’t a nice place to spend any quality time in.
One weekend, however, I got the wild hair to rip out the old rug and lay down some of my favorite color of wood flooring. Champagne is a seriously cool product. It has the look of unfinished wood that has just been sawn from the log. But it is completely pre-finished and sealed. Normally when you apply a sealer or finish the wood yellows or turns more golden. Champagne has what Allwood calls a “Ghost Finish”. It is a UV cured lacquer with an anti-yellowing pigment. Paired with a light wire brushing, Champagne is a perfect style for our mid-century modern house.
Now we spend tons of time in the den, reading and enjoying the lovely trees. As it turns out, it is also a great place to do yoga now!
