Building Hope For Veterans: Operation Tiny Home
Operation Tiny Home is a national nonprofit that assists people struggling with severe housing instability to maintain a life of dignity through custom high-quality tiny housing solutions and empowerment training programs. And Allwood is extremely honored to be partnering with them in that mission.
Bringing together volunteers, community and business support, along with generous donations; Operation Tiny Home is building hope for US military veterans, a demographic disproportionately affected by severe housing instability and homelessness. According to the National Coalition for the Homeless, 23 percent of the homeless population are veterans, even though veterans constitute only 8 percent of the total population.
Tiny Homes. Huge Help.
From the outside—and to anyone who has not experienced homelessness—the spaces that Operation Tiny Home is making may seem insignificant. What possible help could a single room, one hundred square foot house do? But to those who have received them, the gift is immeasurable. Not only do the homes provide a warm and safe place to live, they also give people a sense of dignity and hope.
We will be posting more stories about Operation Tiny Home and all of the good works they are doing in the coming weeks. For now, if you would like to know more about their organization you can visit their website here. And if are interested in helping, please visit the Operation Tiny Home donations page and consider giving.
